China’s scrap imports fall in 2012

According to statistics, Chinas imported 4.974 million tons of scraps in 2012, falling by 26.5% year on year, the lowest level since 2008.

Among them, 3.08 million tons were from Japan, rising by 32.2%; 1.073 million tons were from the US, slumping by 61.4%, both compared to those in a year ago.

In last December, China's scrap imports totaled 494,000 tons, falling by 38.5% while rising by 58.1% from a month ago.

Among them, 415,000 tons were from Japan, rising by 53.9%; 29,000 tons were from Hong Kong, falling by 53.5%; 15,000 tons were from the US, decreasing by 95.6%, all compared to those in the same period of a year ago.
